A little about me

I’m Miranda - a Londoner, designer and history buff who never grew out of cartoons. If I’m not designing or doodling I’m thinking about football as, unfortunately, my weekends are won or lost by the results of a team in red and white.

Journey to UX

So I studied history - because I love figuring out the causes of things, exploring our biases and a range of perspectives. But I left university with no idea what to do next - familiar story.

I fell into digital marketing work and copywriting football content. I was - and still am - very online and wanted to start making my own digital stuff. I taught myself the Adobe suite, loved Illustrator and Photoshop, then started a small online shop selling prints of my digital art.

At work, I became the one in the office who could fix your presentation, or come up with a logo, or manage your website and then finally someone you could trust to help redesign your software’s UI.

I finally decided to transition from that undefined ‘creative’ to UX because I wanted to create things that actually solve problems. Creating without the research and understanding behind it - anything from even a pet portrait commission to a user dashboard - just feels weird. There’s something missing. I like helping people and want to create things that just make their lives a little easier and hopefully more fun. I’m taking every opportunity to learn more.

Adobe Creative Cloud & Figma
Here’s what I’ve used so far in life - if there’s something new, give me a couple of evenings and a YouTube tutorial. I’m on it.

I was incredibly lucky to have worked alongside Miranda on our very first UX group project at GA. I got to see first hand her dedication to delivering high quality solutions which empathetically addressed core user needs. Her commitment to developing her design skills was also hugely inspiring for us as her classmates - I always looked forward to seeing the results in the project presentations!

She was also voted the top UI designer by our class which is a credit to her incredible attention to detail, creative approach to problem solving and engaging storytelling. In all, Miranda’s a brilliant designer and collaborator and I would love to work with her again in the future!
